My name is Jedediah (Jed) Doane, I’m 20 years old, and from Salt Lake City. I like catching air, slashing powder, and having the most fun possible on my snowboard.

I’ve been lucky to grow up at Snowbird, tagging along with gurus like Lane Clegg, Jeremy Jolley, and Ben Pellegrino. I progressed fast under riders of their caliber, and I’ve been snowboarding competitively for eight years now. I specialized in slopestyle and boardercross in my teenage years, and was the USASA Intermountain overall champion for the 2008 and 2009 seasons in both disciplines. I’ve been lucky enough to compete in Grand Prixes, Revolution Tours, and the US Open, and have been invited to Snowboarder Magazine’s “The Launch” event.

After many years of competition in those disciplines, I began to lose interest in the constant travel, cutthroat attitude, and icy 7AM practice runs. Snowboarding had become a job, and had lost some of the fun-loving nature that had drawn me to it initially. I returned to Snowbird and found a renewed love in freeriding at the mountain that shaped me as an all-around rider in the first place.

These days, my love of snowboarding is at an all-time high, and I’ve been working on implementing freestyle maneuvers on steep natural terrain. I currently compete on the North Face Masters of Snowboarding tour, and I look forward to continuing my competitive exploits in the discipline for years to come.

My favorite resorts are Snowbird (obviously) and Jackson Hole, which serves as a second home for me in both winter and summer months. My favorite lines at Snowbird include The Keyhole, Shot 12, Christmas, Elevator, Upper Dalton’s, Blackjack, and the Bookends. The White Pine sidecountry is my favorite lift-accessed backcountry anywhere in the world. In Jackson, you’ll find me in the Saratoga and Casper bowls, Dick’s Ditch, or in Glory Bowl on Teton Pass.

In my spare time, I coach the development team at Snowbird for Team Utah Snowboarding. My riding buddies include my brother Kim Doane, Tristan Clegg, Hunter Wilson, Corbin Dunn, John Rodosky,  David Pistono, Ross Baker, Ryan Hudson, Jeremy Tidwell, Justin “Jdubs” White, Ben Pellegrino, Tony Pagosa, Johnny Collinson, The Harris Clan (Glen, Jonas, Maybel), Archie Goodwin, Steve, Will Brown, the whole BLISTER crew, and many more.

My sponsors are: Smith Optics, Rossignol Snowboards, Discrete Headwear, Team Utah, and Milosport. My boards of choice include the Rossignol Experience, Rossignol Angus, and Rossignol Jibsaw. I wear the Smith I/O and I/OX goggles for their superior clarity and interchangeability, and the lightweight Smith Maze helmet.
