Bogs Carson

The Carson is a six-inches tall, waterproof, pull-on boot made of natural, soft rubber.

The boots are also super easy to clean. Just run them under a sink or hose them off, and they’re good as new.

And given that these are waterproof, I’ve been very impressed with their breathability. I can wear them inside in high-60º F temps and be comfortable. Often when wearing waterproof boots indoors in such warm temperatures, my feet would be sweating.

(FWIW, Bogs claims that the Carson is comfort rated “from temperate to 14°F/-10°C.” I can vouch for the “temperate” temps, but haven’t yet had them in temps down to 14°F. But that doesn’t seem out of line.)

Fit / Sizing

The Carson doesn’t come in half sizes, so I opted to move up to the 11 US / 44 EU. It’s a roomy fit, but the pliable rubber upper hugs my foot quite well. If I dropped down to a size 10, I suspect that I could still get a comfortable, albeit more snug fit. So, if you prefer a more snug fit and you typically wear a half size, I’d drop down. If you tend to like a bit more room, go up.

Bottom Line

If you tend to be out in rainy, snowy, or muddy conditions and you don’t want to wear some big expedition-looking boots, the Carson is a very functional option that still looks pretty sharp.
