South American Ski Test: Our Selections
First, the 2011-2012 Armada AK JJ, 195cm.
We’ve been waiting a long time for this one, and been listening to all the rumors. Finally, it’s here. The 195cm, Armada AK JJ.
Developed at the beginning of the 5-dimension ski movement several years ago, the Armada JJ has played a role in both the development of truly versatile, “fun-shaped” powder skis, and the progression of creative, backcountry riding. The ski’s playfulness and versatility has made it a favorite among many die-hards and weekend warriors alike.
But some—like us—have wished for a more substantial version of the JJ, one that would cope with high level, big mountain riding. And evidently, dreams do come true. New for the 2011-2012 season, Armada gives us the AK JJ. It’s 10 centimeters longer than the original JJ, with wider dimensions (131-141-120-138-128mm) and a stiffer flex profile. It’s the JJ on steroids, or at least, that’s what we expect. We couldn’t be more stoked to find out.
