“Your 15/16 Buyer’s Guide was the best such publication I’ve ever purchased in 20+ years following the industry.” – C. Kingsbury
“This Guide is amazing! This is the Holy Bible folks, the Holy Bible!” – I. Myashkov
Most Buyer’s Guides are pretty useless: lots of photos and advertisements, little real information. So last year, we set out to produce the most honest, no BS, genuinely useful buyer’s guide that the ski industry has ever seen, and readers and manufacturers both agreed that we hit the mark.
Why Our Guide is Better
Other publications do all of their ski testing in a few days. We literally test year round. Nobody puts in as much time on equipment as we do, so no other Buyer’s Guide can match the accuracy of Blister’s reviews and comparisons. Also, we don’t take any money from the ski or snowboard companies we review, so what you get is the most honest and accurate product descriptions and comparisons you will find anywhere.
Blister Buyer’s Guide
Blister’s Winter Buyer’s Guide showcases the 16/17 products we’ve vetted, and provides the most helpful comparisons and recommendations you will find to help you identify the gear that’s best for you, given where and how you ski.
Our Buyer’s Guide covers:
- Men’s & Women’s Skis
- Ski Boots
- Midlayers & Baselayers
- Backcountry Touring Bindings
- Backcountry Touring Skins
- Men’s & Women’s Snowboards
Most buyer’s guides are simply too general. So we’ve sorted the skis and boots we’ve reviewed into distinct classes based on common characteristics. We describe those classes in detail, and lay out what each particular product brings to the table.
Our Ski Categories Include:
- All-Mountain Skis:
- More Stable / Damp / Demanding
- More Forgiving / Quick / Easy-Going
- Directional Chargers
- Freestyle — Narrower
- Freestyle — Wider
- 50/50 — Resort / Backcountry Skis
- Touring Skis
- Frontside Skis
- Women’s Skis
- Park Skis
- Powder Skis
- More Directional
- More Playful
- Deep Powder Specialists (130+ mm wide)
Our Ski Boot Categories Include:
- Dedicated Alpine Boots
- ‘Walk Mode’ Alpine Boots
- Touring Boots
Our Blister Spectrums are arguably the most important thing we put in the Guide. Blister Spectrums order the products we’ve tested along a continuum, letting you see how they stack up against the rest of the category, and allowing you to make the most informed decision possible.
Our Ski-Quiver Selections
A favorite among Blister readers, this season our One and Two-Ski Quiver Selections will be published exclusively in the Buyer’s Guide.
The 16/17 Blister ‘Best Of’ Awards
We don’t take any advertising money from the companies we review, and we spend more time than anyone testing gear. So when we give a product a ‘Best Of’ Award, you know that award was earned, not bought.
We’ll say it again: we’ve produced the most honest, no BS, genuinely useful buyer’s guide that the ski industry has ever seen. If you ski, you are going to want the 16/17 Winter Buyer’s Guide.

Wondering about our subscription renewal policy?
When you purchase a Blister Deep Dive subscription, Blister Membership, or Premier subscription, by default the subscription is set up to renew one year after the original purchase date. However, we will get in touch with you a week prior to remind you that your subscription is soon scheduled for automatic renewal. At that time, you can cancel your subscription so you won't be charged for another year.
Alternatively, any time after you sign up for a subscription (within 1 year following your original purchase) you can remove the credit card stored as a payment method in your account by doing the following:
1) Log in on Blister using the email and password used to create your account when signing up.
2) Navigate to the My Account page.
3) Scroll down to the bottom of the My Account page and remove the stored credit card saved under My Saved Cards (click the red "X" below "Actions" on the right hand side of the page).
If you do this, no payment will be made automatically when your account is up for renewal. Your subscription will be put on hold, and you'll receive an email asking if you'd like to renew your account or cancel the subscription all together.
